I have been in the position described in this advertisement. To be locked into a career cycle of despair and futility is a horrible thing... so horrible that it is incredibly funny to have named and dropped in front of your face as a Super Bowl ad...that is, it is outrageously funny once you are out of that cycle of despair and futility.
I am so blessed to have a job that I don't even consider employment. I work very hard at my calling, but I love what I do so very much that I wouldn't trade my worst day as a pastor for even the best day I had as an advertising copywriter, PR executive or broadcaster. I tell my kids all the time that the only accurate measure of career success is the degree of satisfaction and happiness you derive from what you do. Screw the money. You've got to enjoy what you do or the personal cost will inevitably outweigh the financial return.
Missed that one. I liked the Doritos/vending machine commercial!
